Specifically, I worked alongside interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons that treat valvular heart disease. Along with scheduling and administrative duties, my job included rooming patients and completing their intake through collecting history, recording vital signs, performing electrocardiograms, and communicating this information to the providers efficiently before they enter the patient’s room. At MHVC, the clinics can reach up to 100 patients in a day, so while I am expanding my understanding of cardiology, I am learning the intricacies of efficient communication and teamwork within the healthcare setting. While a research assistant at the Memory Affect and Planning (MAP) Research Laboratory, I have received the Presidential Undergraduate Research Award twice and been published twice.
