Current President and former Owner of RichWrap, IncRichWrap began in 1970 designing and manufacturing gift wrap ensembles. These ensembles feature gift wrap, bows, ribbon, gift labels and other wrapping accessories presented in a beautiful box which corporations of all sizes, professionals and individuals send out during the holiday season to show their appreciation to their valued customers, employees and business associates. It was a novel idea back then, and since that time hundreds of companies have enjoyed sharing the memorable holiday gifts with friends, families, employees, and clients.RichWrap's business model is unique due to the seasonality of the product. 100% of the revenue is generated in the fourth quarter and 80% of the product ships in a small three-week window around Thanksgiving. RichWrap has a 15 box product line and production starts in June to meet the demand in the Fall. Orders are not placed by customers until October so production and inventory forecasts are based on past order history. Forecasting can be reasonably anticipated due to the 90% repeat rate the company enjoys.RichWrap has survived various turbulent economic times over the decades, however the success and survival of the company has been anchored by it's founding principles of providing a unique, quality product at a fair price supported by excellent customer service.

President And OwnerRichwrap Mar 2011 - Apr 2019Elburn, IlI purchased the company in 2011 and retained my role as President with the determination to continue to lead the company back to stability and strong profits.I faced an environment where RichWrap's products were the first to be cut from budgets and the last to be added. Assuming sales would be stagnant for a few years, I took a more defensive approach and cut expenses, streamlined processes, made some advantageous product changes and worked with vendors on negotiating mutually favorable terms.Another challenge was the continual consolidation of companies within industries that dominated our customer base thus the sharp reduction in accounts. I quickly realized I needed to focus on growing a new customer base as well as increase our online presence.Outcomes:Reduction of COGS by 13% from 2010 to 2018.Operational Expenses were lowered to be more in line with current sales numbers.Shipping errors were near zero or zero each year.Sales remained stable.EBITDA went from 2% to 13%, 2010 to 2018.Creation of an interactive website that gives a positive and informative experience to the user through the use of video and visual content to promote the RichWrap Gift Wrap Ensemble product line.Capitalizing on the excitement of the end user for the product, we implemented ways of driving potential customers to the website resulting in the growth of a new customer base that has proven to be profitable, growing and stable. -
President Of OperationsRichwrap Jan 2009 - Feb 2011Elburn, IlPresident of OperationsPromoted to President of Operations in 2009 with the challenging job of guiding the company through the recession that resulted in the closing of many businesses and threatened so many more. Focused on working through inventory issues and the reevaluation of the product line to eliminate underperforming products and components, I created and executed a short term strategic plan to navigate through the economic uncertainties.Key ideas:Short Term: Simply survival. Keeping the core values the company had been founded on in 1970: Quality product, fair price and excellent customer service. Prior to 2009, much of the product was made in the summer and inventory could be stocked based on the orders from previous seasons. The company enjoyed a 90% repeat rate and customers almost always ordered the same box.Due to the uncertainty the crisis created, a more conservative approach to inventory and sales projections was implemented and assembly was delayed until later in the year when ordering expectations could be more accurate. By doing that, production was more efficient and cost effective. As suspected, the company lost 40% of sales that year but the financial loss was mitigated by the careful planning and well executed strategic plan put in place early in the year, thus paving the way to start the process of rebuilding resulting the company returning to profitability the next year. -
Shipping Operation ManagerRichwrap Aug 2004 - Dec 2008Elburn, IlI began my professional journey with RichWrap in 2004 with the goal of finding inefficiencies within the shipping process and exploring and developing ways to reduce costs associated with shipping.Due to the nature of the product, RichWrap has a very tight shipping window during its busy season. 80% of the products produced ship within a 13 day shipping timeframe which required the implementation of procedures to streamline the shipping process to become more efficient and cost effective.
