I am Elizabeth Cano, a passionate community leader and financial professional with over 25 years in the New Jersey manufacturing industry. As a proud member of the Colombian migrant community in the historic city of Elizabeth, I have dedicated my life to serving our communities and contributing to the growth and development of those around me.My career began after emigrating from Colombia and embarking on my studies at what was then Kean College. I quickly became immersed in the rich history of the city of Elizabeth and the diversity of its residents, which inspired me to capitalize on the opportunities this city offered.Over the years, I have played key roles in various organizations and communities throughout the State of New Jersey. From my time as President of the New Jersey Coffee Lions Club to my role as Community Outreach Director at the Hispanos Unidos Organization, I have worked tirelessly to promote wellness and inclusion in our communities.Currently, I have the privilege of serving as a Business Resource Specialist at the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, where I work closely with local businesses to foster economic growth and prosperity in our region.My commitment to community service has been recognized at the local, state and international levels. From resolutions from the City of Elizabeth to the prestigious Melvin Jones Award from Lions Club International, each recognition drives me to continue my mission of making the world a better place.Outside of my professional career, I am passionate about volunteering and advocating for important causes. I have led projects such as the first "Cyclovía" in the city of Elizabeth and I have collaborated with the Climate Reality Project led by former Vice President Al Gore.My goal is to continue developing my mission of serving our communities, as I firmly believe that "small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world" (Howard Zinn).I'm excited to connect and collaborate with you on LinkedIn!
