Environmental Assessment:• CEQA: I performed Initial Study CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) reviews on proposed building projects within California. These reports apply to private projects that review environmental effects/concerns and provide appropriate mitigation techniques.• NEPA & FRA: Under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), I performed environmental reviews that fall under categorical exclusion of proposed projects for clients within the railroad industry.General Operational Performance and Assurance:• Air Emissions Management: Gained experience performing air monitoring surveys for clients that may have workplace exposures to various gases. Work involves understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Permissible Exposure Limits.Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment: • Produced detailed Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports and desktop reviews for small manufactures and bulk petroleum storage sites.• Deliverables also included assessment of potential EHS liabilities associated with the asset purchases. The deliverables conveyed the overall risks and liabilities revealed during the due diligence. Gained experience following up with EHS liabilities and risks and communicating findings.Remediation on Petroleum-Impacted Sites:• Groundwater Sampling: Elizabeth coordinates and conducts semi-annual groundwater sampling events across multiple sites in Northern California. I was responsible for organization of data and reporting results to clients and regulators.• Soil Sampling, Well Installation, and Well Destruction: I analyzed soil samples for subsurface contamination assessment, which sometimes leads to monitoring well installations. She has gained experience in contractor management overseeing drilling for sampling, installations, and destructions.

Research in the field and in the laboratory including, but not limited tomonitoring and sampling cave conditions and drip waters from two caves in the SierraNevada foothills and sample preparation, geochemical analysis of fossil plant matter andstatistical analysis of data. I will also be introduced to microdrilling mineralsamples from specially prepared thick sections for geochemical analysis and preparingorganic matter samples for isotopic analysis.I will be gaining experience in caving, isotope sampling protocols, graphing and statistical programs such as MatLab and R. Project name: Sink or Swim? Helping Build a Website to Support Ocean Parks and Local Communities.Collaborated with NOAA to build a website that shares resources and benefits of marine protected areas. I worked with a team of undergraduates throughout the country and reported to Elizabeth Moore-- senior analyst (NOAA office located in Washington DC).

Soil dwelling microorganisms, specifically fungi, are the engines of the decomposition process that maintain ecological systems by breaking down organic matter into simpler nutrients that cannot be naturally found or created anywhere else. Fungi usually live in communities of numbers in the hundreds in which extra cellular activity is the basis of their livelihood. A classical paradigm of decomposition follows the succession of certain species dominating within the three stages of carbon degradation. However, there are few studies on how they assemble their communities and what role they play within them. Therefore the mechanisms of decomposition of litter is poorly understood. I performed an experiment uses quantitative approaches to analyze growth rates of fungi, metabolic extractions ,and colorimetric tests of reactive oxygen species to describe behavior of dominant and rare species within a microcosm. I presented my work August 10, 2017 at an e-poster convention hosted by Boston University.

I studied water quality standards and tidal exchanges of San Fransisco Delta. Identified population of key species and assessed trophic interactions, migratory patterns, nutrient dynamics and breeding grounds.Investigated environmental conditions that trigger harmful algal blooms.Assessed social, economic, agricultural and environment effects if a bloom occurred.
