I act as an advocate for people with disabilities and provide them with a voice. With over twenty years’ experience in education, I have worked as a headteacher, having successfully restructured an independent special school for children with autism, implemented and managed change within mainstream settings, and mentored school leaders in Rwanda through the British Schools Council. I am also a law graduate with experience of working in the private and not-for-profit sector, providing advice and representation to clients in various professional arenas. I won 100% of my cases at tribunal and took part in the national Disability Rights Campaign, promoting the message that life opportunities are a fundamental right and must be equally accessible to all.Charity work has included training with the British Red Cross, providing tribunal helpline support as a volunteer caseworker with IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) and am currently serving as a trustee (Safeguarding Lead) at CBM UK (Christian Blind Mission - the overseas disability charity)

PrincipalThe Chrysalis School For Autism 2008 - 2011HitchinThe previous principal had left the Independent School 8 months before and I had to be creative and work on my own initiative, structuring, leading and managing the organisation. I formalised the role and duties of the governing body, ensuring accountability and adherence to statutory policies and procedures. I led a dedicated team through two inspections - one by the local authority and one by Ofsted (the school was judged to be good overall with an outstanding provision for welfare, health and safety of the young people).
