I conducted qualitative research for projects on school safety issues, culture of health activities in public housing authorities, MHPAEA, and children’s mental health services. I supported the GMU consultant team as project manager for the Fairfax County Health Reform Implementation Task Force and the State of Virginia in the Virginia Health Reform Initiative (VHRI). For VHRI, I contributed to the central committee and six task forces by providing staff, technical, and research support. As an SME for VHRI, I Collaborated with the Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources. I developed recommendations for the county government to prepare for the roll-out of ACA and other healthcare reform. During this time, I developed a detailed knowledge of ACA, prior health care/insurance services, and best practices for a future transition.—Conducted research and deciphered laws to determine effects on the state, marketplaces, Medicaid expansion, access to individual health care, services covered, and mental health requirements.—Assessed efficiency of current practices and how to prepare the workforce for increased caseload.—Led stakeholder communication at the county staff level.—Created strategies and timelines, and co-authored deliverables for future ACA implementation. —Presented analysis of ACA provisions, including federal funding opportunities, Medicaid expansion, health benefits exchanges, private health insurance coverage subsidies and rules, and public health provisions.—Requested to replicate the project of a similar scope in Fairfax County. Provided technical assistance, wrote reports, and conducted deep-dive research to interpret healthcare reform in six peer counties with similar populations.—Engaged with health policy experts to understand issues around the scope of practice, health information and benefits exchanges, all-payer claims databases, and Medicaid coverage.

As part of my master’s degree practicum, I completed a project focused on evaluating the hospital’s complaint and grievances investigation and patient response processes.
