My name is Elizabeth Mary Rose Fredeman I am 23 years old and am currently studying Psychology at Langara College with the intention of transferring once I earn my associates degree. I came to be a psychology student quite unexpectedly, as my ambitions in high school were rather different. Having grown up on stage, through dance and theatre, it was my original intention to pursue a career in the performing arts. Though I still maintain a passion and interest for both theatre and film, I decided my academic interests better lay elsewhere. I often attend live theatre and still maintain several connections in Vancouver's performing arts scene. Between high school and college I took a lengthy three year break in order to properly asses where to spend my energy and the direction in which to take my pursuits. In that time I assumed my position as "assistant" at Cabello Salon and Spa on the city's affluent west side, this experience has proved invaluable. My now nearly five years spent working under Olga Sarmento equipped me tools to navigate the work force as a young adult.Through this experience I effectively learned how to communicate with a range community members, this bolstered my confidence making it easier to provide service to, or work with, adults older or more educated than myself. The time I spent gaining life and work experience provided not only a refinement to my communication skills, but it developed my interpretation skills. Because of this, I believe myself to be a good fit in the field of psychology and intend to continue to grow these skills through it.
