I plan and conduct bioassays, and collect data investigating the potential toxicity of environmental sediment and water samples, contribute to reports and SOPs, and manage a variety of projects for senior scientists and University of Maryland faculty members. Additionally, I supervise and train other staff members, students, and interns, and manage an Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory, which includes the daily maintenance of animal cultures, test equipment, and hazardous materials. Primary focus areas: marine and estuarine microplastics, ballast water treatment systems toxicity, and endocrine disruption in estuarine fishes.

Conducted time-sensitive environmental research in collaboration with such organizations as: US-EPA, MD-DNR, MDE, NOAA, USDA, US Fish and Wildlife, and VIMS; ensured adherence to EPA and ASTM protocols; participated in public outreach events.

Designed and presented environmental programs to students of all ages at schools, businesses, and special events, contributed to articles, newsletters, and marketing materials, co-led volunteer events, and recruited new business opportunities.
