Profile bio

About Elizabeth Hancocks

I have a lifelong passion for nature and engaging people with it. My current focus is to manage projects and partnerships that deliver nature recovery at a landscape scale in South Central Wales through effective evidence, policy, facilitation, action and governance. My ambition is to lead and empower programmes and/or policy for ambitious nature recovery across Wales. I'm passionate about connecting people with nature and supporting the next generation of environmental professionals through mentoring and informal career advice. I still occasionally give a guided walk on a nature reserve, and am equally happy presenting in front of a wildlife spectacle or a business board.I'm striving to live a sustainable lifestyle, and during the covid pandemic I learnt a lot about low or zero carbon homes. Although the plan to self build is on hold, I'm increasingly interested in using natural materials such as willow and wool for sustainable crafts and products. Ecological survey experience: bats; reptiles; great crested newts; otters; water voles; dormice; small mammals; butterflies; stenodemini; hedgerows. Intermediate higher plants, invertebrate and bird ID skills. Beginner grass and fungi ID skills. I don't hold any species licenses.

Listed skills include Ecology, Biodiversity, Wildlife, Environmental Awareness, and 46 others.
