About Elizabeth Holzman

After working as a professional actor for many years, a serendipitous life event landed me as a tutor in a Special Education classroom and I found my second passion: education. I had worked with youth since undergrad in supplemental programming and theater education, but I never had the opportunity to provide instruction inside a traditional classroom until that moment. When it comes to teaching young people, I am the most passionate about creating relationships with where they trust me enough to take academic risks and have that "a-ha" moment after years of resistance.I am currently focused on working with diverse and under-served secondary populations that benefit from trauma-informed and empathy-based strategies. My master's focused on working with students that have anxiety and/or anxiety-driven behaviors because it is one of the most co-morbid mental health disorders humans experience. When I'm not running around as a Special Education teacher you can find me onstage in a show, offstage directing a show, teaching/coaching young actors, or playing with my horde of nieces and nephews. I'm an insatiably curious person and very passionate about the things I pursue. Also, I'm a Hufflepuff. #HPforlifeHR and Data Management Proficiency: SEIS, PowerSchool, PowerTeacher, Edmentum PLATO, ADPTechnology Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, Canva
