As registrar and curator at a community art center and museum with an internationally recognized collection I thrive in my role providing access to artwork and documents, as well as the stories and expressions they hold. I love working to make information available to be shared widely and am inspired by the potential of art to make connections near and far. I currently work to document, share, and safely preserve an amazing collection of artwork. The pieces in my care represent and honor local and regionally respected artists, as well as an important collection devoted to traditional and contemporary folk and outsider artists, including more than 1500 spectacular Caribbean works. My education and training includes specialization in textile preservation and service at several Midwestern art centers, museums, and historical societies. In recent years I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the art in our collection with neighboring institutions and visiting patrons in several ways. A few highlights: co-hosting and facilitating a local conference and multi-state tour featuring artwork from our collection on display at ten regional museums and galleries, participation in a multi-institution digitization and cataloging standards development project devoted to Haitian artwork, and a 7-year commitment to a museum sponsored festival celebrating Latinx heritage. As a team player and community member, my colleagues know I can be relied upon to share invitations, attend and make connections at artists’ lectures, gallery tours, and exhibition openings.
