Instructional Design & Quality Assurance ConsultantProvide consultation and training on instructional design, curriculum design and teaching strategies that lead to quality learning experiences. The focus is on finding strategies that effectively use digital information and cloud-based strategies for instructional design, social media and communication to get the right information to the right people at the right time in a way that is accessible, organized and useful.

Facilitate webinars and workshops on topics related to the Quality Matters Rubric standards and instructional design. Facilitate a number of different Quality Matters professional development offerings including the Master Reviewer Course, Peer Reviewer Course, and IYOC Facilitator Course for Quality Matters.Facilitate face-to-face "Applying the Quality Matters Rubric," "Improving Your Online Course," and other onsite workshops for Quality Matters.

Quality Matters Research Colleagues play a leading role in keeping the Rubric current. These dedicated volunteers work with Kay Shattuck to foster studies that advance the knowledge of QM's impact on learner success. Their activities include tracing, documenting, and analyzing scholarly research that informs the continuing reflection and improvement of the QM Standards. They also discuss, advise on and support the QM research agenda.

Member of a national committee convened by Quality Matters to provide support to the Higher Education Rubric committee working on updating the Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric 6th Edition.

The Faculty Development Committee is a standing committee of the Academic Affairs Council.The Committee is responsible for advising the Academic Affairs Council on issues relative to faculty professional development initiatives and programs systemwide. The scope includes faculty professional development needs and interests related to teaching and learning, instructional development, scholarly and professional expertise, e-learning, student learning outcomes assessment, and inter-campus collaboration.

The Academic and Student Affairs Technology Council is an ongoing council with an advisory role to the vice chancellor of academic and student affairs and the Academic and Student Affairs Coordinating Commission.The council will be the principal group responsible for advising the vice chancellor of academic affairs on all academic technologies that are piloted, adopted, and/or licensed for systemwide use.They will advise and make recommendations on academic technologies including instructional related tools, online learning technologies, instructional media delivery, library technologies, and other instructional academic technologies that have systemwide application.(Council Chair: June 2015 - July 2016; June 2017 - present)

Minnesota

Responsible for coordination and implementation of Quality Matters and other quality assurance projects within Minnesota (34 Minnesota State institutions). This includes coordinating, creating and delivering various professional development opportunities including webinars and QM workshops; coordination of official course reviews that lead to QM course certification; ongoing training for QMCs, certified reveiwers and facilitators; and, implementation support for individual campus QM Coordinators, faculty, staff and administrators by serving as a resource for questions about quality assurance in online and blended courses.

Chair of the planning committee for this virtual conference that is sponsored by the Minnesota Online Quality Initiative. The STAR Symposium celebrates excellence in teaching and learning by providing an avenue for individuals to share best practices, ideas and resources with colleagues. This virtual one-day conference includes presentations that focus on pedagogical approaches including delivery via face-to-face, blended, flipped and online classrooms.

The Minnesota Learning Commons (MnLC) is a joint powers agreement between the University of Minnesota (UMN), Minnesota State, and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), with a mission to “support educators teaching in online, blended, and digital learning environments.”The Learning Commons executes its mission through three primary efforts: Minnesota eLearning Summit, "Best of the Summit" Webinar Series, and Special Interest Groups. • Design interactive web-based courses using various software including: SoftChalk, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint, Articulate Presenter & Quizmaker, Articulate Engage, Respondus StudyMate, Web 2.0 tools and various publisher-provided software.• Create web-based training in Desire2Learn using various LMS tools.• Teach online courses for the Allied Health and Human Services division.
