I am proud to lead the country’s pre-eminent business group on health, and the only member organization that exclusively represents the interests of large employers, to create a health care market that delivers high-quality, equitable care at a fair cost. Employers provide health and well-being benefits to more than half the country and spend billions of dollars each year to do so. Yet, a vanishing few believe that for all the money they spend, employee health is improving. Motivated by the belief that a rational health care market is essential for the health of this country and its economy, we pursue an ambitious vision for the future of health care payment and delivery system transformation. That demands real accountability and giving control back to the people who pay the bills – American workers and businesses. We prefer to work within existing markets, but where they fail, we create alternatives specifically designed for large employers.
