Part of this work has included working with specific groups of women to retain the traditional Minang weaving practices, including natural dyeing of threads to create pieces of cloth with locally specific motifs. During my time at LP2M, I supported in strengthening women-run small-scale business networks and developing the LP2M fundraising unit. To do this, social enterprise Limpapeh Handmade was established as an alternative source of funds for the women's movement. Limpapeh is an ethical brand that uses local naturally dyed fabrics and traditional weaving techniques to develop products to support and fund LP2Ms community services.This position was funded by DFAT

    Research Associate on a StudyNSW funded project: "Information for Impact: Enabling education providers to address exploitation of international students in accommodation and work". My role was to conduct data collection in the form of focus group discussions and an online survey. The study includes a survey of over 5,000 international students, which is the largest international student survey conducted in Australia. Intergrating my skills in research, human rights and digital marketing resulted in a well informed reports son housing experiences of international students, experiences at work, and services and information that will make a difference. About MWJI:UNSW Sydney and UTS are leading a response by the New South Wales international education sector to the exploitation of international students in accommodation and at work. Funded as a Partner Project by StudyNSW, this study will enable education providers across the NSW VET, ELICOS and higher education sectors to more effectively deliver information and services on employment and housing that directly respond to the needs and experiences of international students.
