And so my passion for ecopreneurship continues running a social enterprise that makes cider and juice from apples that would otherwise go to waste. It was small-batch traditionally pressed cider made with 100% apple juice, using wild and slow fermentation. The cider, named ‘Local Fox’ was a beautiful by-product of a business set up to be a positive force for good. Awarded the ‘Pomona’ award by Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) for my outstanding contributions to the production of real cider. Named one of Britain’s most influential cider makers making an outstanding contribution to the betterment of cider, by Gabe Cook in his book Modern British Cider. A sustain Urban Food Hero and BBC Food and Farming Award Finalist. I danced between the many roles that came with running a sustainable food start-up, from business development, events, community building and corporate volunteering, marketing, production, compliance, and logistics. Some of the heartfelt highlights are - 45 tonnes of surplus apples picked and pressed from community orchards and gardens across London - 1500+ volunteers inspired across 171 cider-making workshops and harvest celebrations- £16000 given back in cider tools and training to those who donated their fruit to help care for their trees

Where my love affair with apples began. Inspired by my Master's thesis in Ecopreneurship I was excited to get going and make a difference. I launched my own “gleaning” network in an untested area. Partnering with charities, farmers, and a self-built network of volunteers to salvage 16 tonnes of apples that would otherwise go to waste on commercial farms. The fruit was then redistributed to those who need it most working with 22 organisations including Fareshare, local hospices, and food banks.
