Elizabeth has a national practice focused on high-stakes investigations, employment litigation, and counseling. Much of Elizabeth’s practice is devoted to helping clients navigate the many complexities of time-sensitive and high-risk workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct against senior and executive-level leaders. Elizabeth is an accomplished litigator with experience defending companies against claims brought under various non-discrimination laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the National Labor Relations Act, state and federal wage and hour laws, and whistleblower laws. Elizabeth also represents clients in non-competition and trade secret disputes. She frequently advises clients on issues involving employee discipline, discharge, reductions in force, leave and accommodation issues, employment agreements, and ADA title III issues. Prior to joining McGuireWoods in 2017, Elizabeth was a trial attorney in the Disability Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, enforcing all three titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). She also completed two federal clerkships, one at the appellate level for Chief Judge Edward E. Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and one at the district court level for Judge Orinda D. Evans of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Elizabeth serves as the Vice President of the Virginia Equality Bar Association (VEBA) and is an active member of the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia, and the National LGBT Bar, where she was recognized as a one of the 40 Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 in 2020. Elizabeth is a 2023 Fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), an LCLD mentor for law students, and over the years has volunteered her time to many social justice organizations.Elizabeth graduated with High Honors from Emory University School of Law, where she was a Robert W. Woodruff Fellow and served as a Notes & Comments Editor for the Emory Law Journal. Before attending law school, Elizabeth spent six years in sales and marketing for various companies. Elizabeth lives in Richmond, VA, with her wife Jennifer, son Crosby, and daughter Lincoln. She lives and breathes college basketball.
