Stott Farming is a family owned and run irrigation farming business, primarily producing cotton and winter cereals. We own and operate properties in Whitton and Gogeldrie, NSW.

The Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA) provides a strong, united voice for the rice industry. We represent the interests of ricegrowers on issues affecting the viability and sustainability of their businesses, the industry and their regional communities. The RGA provides services to around 1500 members, to ensure they can provide a legacy for their children, create employment in their districts and grow quality rice.As the Communications and Policy Officer, I am responsible for developing and implementing the organisation's communications strategy, managing media relations and overseeing and coordinating our public relations and education activities. I also research, analyse and advise on policy issues affecting the rice industry.

In this role I assisted in developing and implementing the policy, public relations and communication programs for MI, the largest privately owned irrigation corporation in NSW. This role involved developing and maintaining advocacy relationships with governments, key lobby groups, individuals and industry stakeholders as well as interpreting and communicating policy, regulations and legislation and providing strategic advice on the Company’s response. Part of my role also involved managing our media relations which includes developing and maintaining relationships with media personnel, providing advice to company representatives in relation to media responses as well as preparing press releases and statements as required.

In this role, I was responsible for overseeing a variety of communications materials such as letters, media releases, PowerPoint presentations and factsheets. This included the coordination, development and distribution of the monthly customer newsletter, “News in Brief”.I was also responsible for developing stakeholder engagement strategies and organising and/or facilitating customer information sessions and meetings.I introduced a consistent approach to media monitoring for items relevant to Murrumbidgee Irrigation or other issues of interest which has now become a core part of the Communications Officer role in the company.

At the Animal Referral Hospital I was responsible for managing a team of five receptionists as well as liaising with middle management and the Board of Directors. I was required to provide knowledgeable and comprehensive responses to client enquiries and complaints and develop policies and protocols to be followed by all staff to improve client services and workplace health and safety.I also developed and implemented the company's annual promotional strategy which included managing marketing and communication tools, such as the website, newsletter, magnets, advertising and continuing education seminars for referring veterinarians throughout the Sydney basin and ACT.I was responsible for a range of general duties including the supply of all stationary, business cards and uniforms; maintaining the phone system and security system at both hospital sites as well as other miscellaneous tasks such as coordinating tradesman to install new equipment or complete repairs and upgrades.
