CurrentSelect materials for, maintain and promote collections from birth to twelve years of ages, including the Books from Birth program and book vending machineWork with other staff on selecting materials for the young adult collectionSelect and maintain a collection of parenting materialsPlan, implement and evaluate programs for children, story hours, outreach programs, tours, arts and crafts programs, and guest programs such as zoo visitsWork with other staff librarians to develop, implement, and evaluate programs for young adultsDesign promotional materials for children's programsAssist other librarians with promoting children's activities on website and social mediaWrite news releases to advertise youth programs and provide them to news outletsCreate displays that will entice children and young adults to read and participate in library programsCoordinate with local school district to help children/parents locate materials according to current educational guidelinesWork with director and school representatives to promote coordinated programsApply for appropriate grants and/or complete requirements for grantsPlan for and execute a 6-8 week summer reading program using the NYS summer reading program themeCollect and report statistics for monthly and yearly reports for the library directorEvaluate and remove items from the children's collection based on condition of materials and frequency of use and deliver to the library director for final evaluationCollect items requested through interlibrary loan and prepare them for delivery to other libraries. Check in interlibrary loans when they are returned.
