Hello, my name is Elizabeth Wampler, and for 30 years I have been immersed in the world of disability. In 1995, I married a man with a severe form of cerebral palsy ❤️ He uses an electric wheelchair to get around, and has a speech impediment. Before I met my husband, I knew nothing about disabilities, and, if I'm honest, was uncomfortable with the topic. Since marrying my husband and living this pretty unusual life, I have learned a great deal about human nature and the topic of disability, and I'm very encouraged. There is a promising national push for diversity and inclusion that coincides with the deep compassion and encouragement that can be seen towards all people with disabilities within society today.After launching a foundation with my husband in 2002, a camp 🏕 for kids with disabilites, I embarked on a journey, partnering with corporations, universities, and governmental agencies to bridge the gap between people who do and don't have disabilites. Main Street, as it is called, is a 14-module course that functions as a beginner's guide designed to take a plain, warm-hearted 🙂 look at disability with zero judgement, compassion and levity.
