Oct 2007 - Jul 2009At Tetra Tech I managed the firm’s support to the US EPA’s Brownfields and Land Revitalization Technology Support Center (BTSC) with the EPA Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation (OSRTI) Technology Innovation and Field Services Division (TIFSD). In that role, I oversaw and provided technical guidance and communications/outreach support to the EPA’s efforts to advocate the introduction, acceptance, and use of innovative technologies and approaches for site characterization and cleanup. I also managed a team providing site-specific technical assistance to site managers seeking to implement green remediation approaches including evaluating sites and remedial systems for opportunities to apply best management practices in the areas of energy requirements, air emissions, water requirements and impacts on water resources, land and ecosystem impacts, material consumption and waste generation, and long-term stewardship. I evaluated and recommended design options for reducing the site environmental footprint within engineering parameters set by existing remedial systems; identifying the engineering issues associated with implementing renewable energy or green remediation options at the site, general cost estimates, and funding resources and opportunities; and ensuring the broad application of recommendations to other similar sites. In addition to providing support to the US EPA, I was the program manager for Tetra Tech’s support to the Environmental Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment (DUSD(I&E)/EM). The program support covered a broad array of services including: environmental restoration, conservation, Executive Order implementation, and other areas.
