As Director of Advancement Dr. Berkes is a key member of President Dr. Elizabeth Guneratne's Executive Leadership Team and ensures best practices are in place that effectively and efficiently advance the mission, values, and strategic goals of the school through the collaborative efforts of the advancement, alumni, and marketing and communications team. Dr. Berkes is responsible for elevating the profile of Moreau Catholic High School and increasing the philanthropic engagement and general support of all community members.The institutional advancement program at Moreau Catholic includes strategic marketing; intentional relationship-building; alumni and parent engagement; major, endowed, and planned giving; foundation support; annual fund; corporate and business support; volunteer engagement, and community outreach. Dr. Berkes provides critical leadership to all capital campaigns, including the current Setting the Tone for the Future Capital Campaign for the Center for Music and Band.Dr. Berkes is responsible for building a highly relational team with a culture of outstanding achievement to ensure all community members are cultivated, honored, and engaged.

Dr. Berkes had primary responsibility for overseeing, and coordinating all aspects of supervision, evaluation, and professional development for a faculty of over 75 full and part-time teachers in a high school setting with an enrollment of over 1000 students. Dr. Berkes was the director of the school's accreditation process using the Western Catholic Education Association protocol, Ensuring Educational Excellence (E3). She served as a diocesan trainer for the E3 protocol. Dr. Berkes also oversaw the Service Learning Program, the Multiplying Good Students in Action Leadership Program, and De La Salle High School's participation in the Stanford Challenge Success Program. She worked closely with the school's chief academic officer to provide leadership for the Academic Affairs Council and ensure the smooth implementation of the curriculum in 8 academic disciplines. Dr. Berkes has maintained a lifelong interest and involvement in working with the poor and marginalized through various secular and Catholic organizations. Her recent scholarship focuses on what schools can do to promote environmental justice, dismantle cheating culture in Catholic high schools, and how to help mission-driven schools use data for school improvement.

Served as the personal research assistant for a member of the Common Core State Standards Validation Committee. Served on the team that wrote the US Dept. of Education grant on behalf of more than 25 States that would become the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). Convened, supported, and documented all meetings for SBAC, including the Executive Committee meetings, All States meetings, Governing States meetings, and Advisory States meetings. Produced the weekly Smarter Balanced newsletter with distribution to high-level stakeholders, including Chief State School Officers, County and District Superintendents, and University and College Administrators in the member States.
