Kennestone Regional Medical CenterCoronary Care Unit - June 2016 to December 2018This position involved becoming competent in ventilator patients, vasopressor drips, inotrope drips, remodulin, sedation management, central line dressing changes, phlebotomy, transducing central access lines, transvenous pacemakers, and pulling arterial/venous sheaths. Specific diagnoses that I have become more competent in handling include ACS, post-PCI AMI, lethal cardiac arrhythmias, TAVR, Mitral Clip, Watchman, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, complete heart block, pulmonary hypertension, CHF, GI bleed, DKA, and sepsis. I have expanded my knowledge base with modalities such as IABP (Maquet), Impella (Abiomed), Heartware HVAD (Medtronic), Heartmate II LVAD (Abbott), Arctic Sun (Bard), Alsius (Zoll), CRRT (Gambro Prismaflex), Flotrac (Edwards), and PA catheters (Edwards). I began acting as relief charge in September 2017. I began acting as permanent charge in November 2017. The permanent charge role includes fulfilling roles on the primary and secondary code teams, assisting as back up rapid response, managing the critical care staffing board, and balancing the schedule for CCU.Acute Pulmonary - September 2015 to June 2016As a new graduate nurse, I became proficient in many essential nursing skills, including: head-to-toe assessment, IV insertion, EKG, tube feeding, NG tube insertion, foley catheter insertion, trach suctioning, wound care, admissions, and discharges. In addition, I was able to hone many important skills outside of direct patient care, including: teamwork, professional communication, conflict mediation, time management, prioritization, and delegation. On a pulmonary floor, typical diagnoses included COPD exacerbation, asthma exacerbation, CHF, pneumonia, and PE; we also received a wide variety of general medical-surgical patients.
