About Elizabeth Clews
I'm a full-time student at the University of California, pursuing a degree in both history and critical race & ethnic studies. Having lived experience in both the foster care and juvenile justice system has helped shaped my perspective on the inequities plaguing our society, and even closer, our communities. I draw inspiration from people in my community that have been deeply impacted by discrimination, prejudice, inequality, and injustice. I am committed to ameliorating our institutions and uplifting voices that have historically been silenced.I've been quite lucky to have had many opportunities in my short career including ambassador/advocacy work, providing peer mentorship, facilitating trauma informed trainings, media work (op-eds, podcasts, radio broadcasting, YouTube videos, and journal publications i.e. The Washington Post), panel participation and even keynote speaking. It's true I wear many hats, but the one I wear proudest is as a mother. I'm always happy to network and collaborate so please feel free to reach out and say hi!

Foster Youth Advocate
In my position as a youth advocate, my work consisted of using my lived experience as a former foster youth to provide testimony and stakeholder input surrounding policy implementations. This role allowed me to meet with assembly members, senators, and their offices to discuss the impacts of said policies. I was also able to provide live testimony in person at the capitol building.
