Bush; serving as theWhite House’s principal liaison for statewide elected officials with the federal government,working on issues including economic development, disaster recovery and homeland security,and the response efforts to the 2008 financial crisis. From 2001 to 2007, she heldintergovernmental relations positions within the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Departmentof Commerce working on issues including international trade, fisheries and the environment, and the Census. As an advance associate for President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, she traveled domestically and internationally, making preparations for numerous events. She also served as a detailee in the Office of Protocol at the State Department.She serves as President of the Society of Fellowships, is a member of the Board of Directors ofThe Washington Tattoo. And previously served as Vice President and Board member of theSouth Carolina Business Council, and on the Board of The Washington Club.Elizabeth is also a two-time recipient of South Carolina’s Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest award for public service.
