Special Assignment Teacher
CurrentSupporting district-wide IEP compliance, including coaching for new/incoming special education teachers; Publication of a newsletter on special education policies sent weekly to all special services, case managers, principals, human resources, and other district-wide administration (elementary and secondary); Providing direct support for up to 10 special education teachers and case managers, including oversight of caseloads, timeliness of IEPs, and training on how to maintain caseloads and scheduling their IEPs; Facilitation of professional development (PD) for teachers and teaching interns, including positive behavior management interventions, restorative practices, and equitable access for students with disabilities; Incorporation of new PDs that speak to trauma informed and culturally responsible teaching, as well as accommodation and modification for students with disabilities; Development of improved information sharing methods with the district SEIS database to create and export IEP reporting to Excel spreadsheets and Google Docs/Sheets; Other direct support includes coaching teachers and interns on technology integration with Google Classroom, Google Read/Write, Zoom meetings, and other technology available to the district
