I am an experienced equity, equality, diversity and inclusion leader with the proven ability to deliver strategic diversity and inclusion priorities and action plan objectives. I see my EEDI role as one where I help people see we all have protected characteristics, they simply influence our lives and experiences in different ways. EEDI work is about all of us and I encourage people to join me in creating more fairness and equity in society. I am a skilled project manager able to deliver a broad range of projects working alongside and in collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. I am a member of the Adult Care Services and Hertfordshire County Council Diversity and Inclusion Boards. I am a founding committee member of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Staff Network Group leading its development as a respected body challenging, celebrating and supporting positive change in the council. In this capacity I have led and contributed to events including Black History Month, National Inclusion Week and South Asian Heritage Month. I contributed a chapter in The Anti-Racist Social Worker book and have written for Social Work Magazine on how to develop an anti-racist approach in an organisation. I have studied and worked with diverse communities throughout my career including research for my undergraduate degree on the psychology and social presentation of disability, for my master’s degree on the environmental and psychological determinants of combining work and caring and direct work with people who use care services.I have additional qualifications in counselling, social sciences, project management and I am studying Level 5 Professional Coaching. I have volunteered with a local hospice and been a secondary school governor.
