As an undergraduate student ambassador, I generally provide support for the iHawke Women's and Diversity Programs in the School of Engineering. I help Palvih Bhana coordinate events for professional development and student engagement, such as the iHawke Welcome Back event, Conquer Your Classes workshop, iHawke-A-Thon, and annual iHawke banquet. I also help maintain the iHawke Instagram account and hold weekly office hours to connect with students.

University Of Kansas

Through the Shiflett Research Group, I worked under Project S.A.V.E. (Silica Adsorbed Vaccine Encapsulation). This project investigates the stabilization of proteins, antibodies and enzymes onto porous silica. I was recently published as a third author for a review article, and we have submitted another article based on our results with lactoferrin protein stabilization.

My project for the REU focused on investigating stabilization of lactoferrin protein onto silica for a flu vaccine without refrigeration. Each week, I presented weekly updates of research and information learned from article reviews. The program focused on developing critical thinking, creativity, art, insight into the research process, and presentation skills. To present our research, each REU participant created a written report, several oral presentations, and a research poster.

This past summer, I shadowed a Corporate Engineer and supported different projects they were working on. I obtained quotes, ordered materials, and communicated with contractors. My main project as an intern was to develop a drawing database in Microsoft Access for a part of the plant, and to use that database to establish a new redlining procedure for process engineers to edit drawings using Bluebeam Revu.

I began working for First State Bank & Trust at the start of the pandemic, where they trained me to manage substantial amounts of money and customer confidentiality. I worked as a part time teller, then worked full time that summer for extended support. Once I started my classes at KU, I moved to the Lawrence location. I adjusted quickly to the unfamiliar environments and new customers at each branch.
