Pre-AP, Honor and Regular Levels Comprehensive Science - 6th Grade, 8/2015 to PresentInstructed lectures, class activities, and experiments on the following Earth Science topics: scientific method, natural disasters, space, climate change, Earth’s systems, human body systems, growth and development. For the last 7 years, between 75% to 80% of my students have shown mastery learning from the Pre-Baseline, Midterm Baseline and Final Baseline assessments. In addition, most of my students have scored above average on the Florida State Assessment each year for reading and math.High School Biology - 9th Grade, 8/2015 to 6/2016Instructed lecture, class activities, and experiments on the following topics: biological functions from cell functions to the overview of anatomy and physiology (e.g., living unicellular to multicellular organism topics). 78% of my students scored above average on the EOC (End of Course) Florida Biology State Exam.

Physical Science – 8th Grade, 8/2013 to present• Instruct chemistry and physic science principles within an interactive lab-based classroom, where students hypothesize, test, observe, collect data and draw conclusions as they conduct weekly experiments. • Topics covered include states of matter, mass versus weight, density and solubility. Additional concepts explored include: characteristic properties of unknown substances, melting/freezing, boiling points (fractional distillation), forces, motions and energy. IB - MYP Biomedical and Life Science – 7th Grade, 8/2013 to present• Teach the basic structure and function of microorganisms, plant, and animal cells. Stimulate students to examine the role that DNA plays in the overall function of organisms, electrophoresis (Forensic science) and genetic disorders. Also, students are taught how to compare and integrate the systems of the body, while examining their own growth and development. Furthermore, students are exposed to using doctor equipment and software while taking vital signs.

Assist in writing and developing Pre-AP Science curricula for 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Order all necessary supplies for the newly built STEM laboratory for the Middle School science department. Improving students’ analytical skills by having them collect data, analyzing the findings by way of different graphing strategies, and communicating all outcomes in the form of a laboratory report. Also, students are given the opportunity to solve and practice word problems pertaining to various science topics we cover.

Instruct chemistry principles within an interactive lab-based classroom, where students hypothesize, test, observe, collect data and draw conclusions as they conduct weekly experiments (8th grade). Instruct biological issues and topics to 7th graders, while providing an interactive lab-based classroom where students conducted real dissections, and other experiments. Topics covered the human body systems, classification of living organisms, genetics, and more. At the same time, I provided an enjoyable work environment for students to explore their ideas, observe, collect data, and draw conclusions.

Chemistry, Biology, and General Science Teacher-Grades 6, 7, 8, and 9:Instructed chemistry, biology and general science topics, while providing the students with an interactive classroom experience where they conducted weekly experiments and hands-on science activities. I taught 9th grade biology to Colombian students that were working towards earning the International General Certification of Secondary Education, in order to provide them with the opportunity to attend a college or university in another country other than Colombia.
