I made changes as needed to optimize efficiency and results. We wanted to create a new system that could frontally polymerize at room temperature with cheap materials. o Developed necessary conditions to perform isothermal frontal polymerization with this new systemo Analyzed fresh and degraded polymer via the rheometer/DSC/DMAo Systems studied : • Bromate-sulfite clock perturbed by ammonia with polycarbodiimides and maleic or malonic acid Clock times can appear to be delayed by the addition of ammonia up to a certain concentration. However, the ammonia does not decrease the reaction rate of the clock reagents. Because of this, it cannot be a storable system and further research with the addition of monomers to the clock reaction was haulted. • Urea-urease clock with ethoxylated trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercaptopropionate) and poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate It was found that the clock time, gel time, degelation time, and number of crosslinks can be programmed by adjusting the initial reagent concentrations. Also, fronts propagate with constant velocity, velocity changes with reagent concentrations, and upward moving fronts travel faster than downward moving fronts. -
