During my academic tenure, I have served in professorships in the University System of Georgia (USG) at two of the four major research universities in the USG, Georgia State University (assistant professor) and Augusta University (chair and tenured full professor). My Rutgers University appointment began in 2015 as Professor in the department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences primarily responsible for clinical research-related courses in the MS in Clinical Laboratory Science (MS-CLS) and Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS) programs. From 2018-2020, I served as chair of the newly formed interprofessional department, Clinical Laboratory and Medical Imaging Sciences. Currently I am Professor Emerita at both Augusta University and Rutgers University. Between these two academic tenures, I served at the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention as Senior Service Fellow and Expert Consultant. My research focus is clinical in nature and relates to characterizing diagnostics evidence based practice. My investigations have involved informatics and clinical decision support, individual and population-level health record data analysis, and quality metrics for evaluation of medical effectiveness and cost efficiency of laboratory services.
