Developed training materials for in country healthcare workers on infection control practices to prevent spread of disease.

Rotterdam Area, Netherlands

Main research project: Computationally modified influenza hemagglutinin proteins to investigate antibody responses in a Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral vector. Used BEAST software and statistical analysis to develop an ancestral hemagglutinin protein and construct a vector plasmid. This vector was successfully inserted to create a recombinant modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) and analyzed by PCR. Western blot analysis was used to determine and successfully show the recognition of different HA surface antigens by the virus.

Investigated small biologically active molecules as drug candidates to eliminate HIV latent reservoirs. Maintained HIV latent cell lines and used flow cytometry to determine latency.
