For example, she led Gift of Hope’s “Drive for Life” campaign that collaborated with the Illinois Secretary of State resulting in the Illinois General Assembly approving legislation for 16 and 17-year-olds to register as organ and tissue donors. Elizabeth also leads the strategy, operations and fundraising program of the Illinois Transplant Fund, a separate 501(c)3 organization dedicated to increasing access to organ transplants for disenfranchised community members of Illinois and NW Indiana. Elizabeth has served as a senior executive in both the hospital provider and hospital association communities in Illinois. She spearheaded state legislation that created Illinois’ Freestanding Emergency Center provider category, a fairer Medicaid Hospital Provider Assessment program and led negotiations with the City of Chicago that granted hospitals an improved on-boarding schedule with newly enacted water rates. As president of the Midwest Health Foundation, she led the four Adventist Midwest Health (now Amita Health) hospital foundations and achieved a 77 percent increase in dollars raised in three years, totaling over $16 million.
