• Designed, built, and debugged a novel scanning tunneling microscope (STM) for atomically-resolved, cryogenic, ultrahigh vacuum, and high magnetic field studies of high temperature superconductors.• Led a team of three graduate students and multiple undergraduates• Designed, purchased, constructed and tested the following peripheral systems for the experiment: vibration isolation, vacuum handling, electronics for control and measurement, thermometery, control software, liquid helium dewar and superconducting magnet• Successfully demonstrated atomic resolution imaging and spectroscopic capabilities in home-built STM• Developed novel analysis software to identify complex spatial electronic patterns in noisy data• Programming experience in IDL, Labview, Igor, Matlab and Mathematica• Additional experience: Solidworks, machine shop, designing and testing basic circuits, electrochemistry, computer-machine interfacing, SEM imaging• Earned Green Lab Certification for the Hoffman lab, the first in the Harvard Physics Department
