Chief Financial Officer for multi-divisional non-profit located on the site of legendary Stax Records. Soulsville is the parent organization of the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, the Stax Music Academy and The Soulsville Charter School.

• Responsible for all financial aspects of $1.4 million nonprofit organization to ensure overall health and long term sustainability. • Ensure financial stability by securing government and foundation funding, including $750k in unbudgeted revenue during the pandemic crisis. • Manage diverse revenue streams including earned income, individual contributions, foundation and government grants, and special events.• Support Board and Finance Committee oversight by providing financial analysis and presenting financial and audit reports.• Assist leadership in the annual budgeting process; creation of annual budget; administer and review all financial plans, and conduct analysis. • Guide the management of all Human Resources operations and implementation of employment policies including compensation and benefits, employment law, work comp, and 401k and insurance plans. • Provide leadership by strengthening communications throughout organization to promote a positive work environment. • Supervise and manage 10 full and part-time staff members for the Blues Hall of Fame.• Management of museum gift shop including staffing, inventory management, consignment agreements, and merchandising. • Responsible for all front of house duties for large scale, multi day productions with combined attendance of more than 20k fans including ticket sales, will call, merch sales, auction, exhibit openings, receptions, and panels. • Engage 50+ volunteers annually for events from orientation and scheduling to performance evaluation.• Collaborate to optimize Membership revenue by supporting engagement and retention strategies, and utilizing CRM software.• Responsible for administration of three donor restricted programs.• Oversee investment assets for performance optimization within investment policies. • Curation and design of both permanent and rotating exhibits in Blues Hall of Fame. • Management of all loan and gift documents for collection of 750+ objects.

• Plan, direct, organize and synchronize the financial functions of the organization by applying financial/accounting principles.• Produce monthly financial statements as well as create and update management reports and analysis. • Evaluate the organization’s fiscal performance and advise on long term strategic planning.• Draft action plans and lead meetings with division management to review project status and propose financially beneficial changes. • Monitor, evaluate and structure cash flow of the organization to ensure timely availability of financial resources.• Research and recommend innovative alternatives to generate revenue and reduce unnecessary costs. • Create and maintain project-by-project budgets and deadlines for new product releases and large capital expenditure projects. Provide reliable and timely expense, capitalization, amortization and spend data for projects/departments. • Analyze legal documents, including label contracts, distribution agreements, insurance policies and corporate contracts. • Prepare annual and quarterly federal, state and local income tax returns as well as payroll tax, business tax, property tax and informational returns. • Calculate, review and render label and publishing royalty statements and corresponding royalty payments. • Negotiate outside licensing of organization’s intellectual property and coordinate with outside vendors for use of master and publishing copyrights. • Initiate and prepare copyright and trademark registrations and applications. Monitor up-coming due and renewal dates for trademarks.• Guide the management of all Payroll and HR operations, systems and programs including employment-related laws, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, workman's compensation claims and administration of the 401k retirement and Cafeteria plans. • Supervise and mentor 20+ staff members by offering constructive feedback, open communication and taking interest in their long-term career growth.
