Elizabeth Northrup is an Executive Vice President in Washington, D.C. where she serves as a trusted public affairs counselor while leading reputational campaigns for clients and industries with acute political and regulatory challenges. Elizabeth brings to BCW more than 25 years of experience at the nexus of reputation management and public affairs.

Elizabeth Northrup brings to the Signal Group a deep background in public affairs – with an emphasis on telecommunications, energy, the chemical industry, financial services and regulatory issues. She also has substantial experience in crisis communications, state government affairs, project management, media training and providing strategic advocacy and communications counsel.

Elizabeth Northrup served as Account Lead for a large issue advocacy campaign for the natural gas industry.

Prior to joining Hill + Knowlton in 2008, Ms. Northrup consulted for The Glover Park Group and provided communications strategy and services for a variety of clients, including property casualty insurers, financial services companies and organizations, and diversified multinational corporations.

Account supervisor with Goddard Claussen Porter Novelli (GCPN) public affairs firm. During my tenure with GCPN, I worked with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform to develop a campaign to reform the civil justice liability system. I also worked for the Chlorine Chemistry Council (CCC) on an extensive and targeted benefits campaign, as well as with CCC and the Vinyl Institute (VI) through the “Partnership for Humanity”, an industry-led group that provided donations of goods and services to the annual Habitat for Annual Jimmy Carter build. Additionally, I successfully worked with Shell Chemical L.P. to develop a comprehensive strategy of engagement through an extensive and evolving dialogue with residents of a fenceline neighborhood in Louisiana. I also worked with the National Cable Television Association to create and maintain Net Compete Now, a national coalition to fight crippling regulation and advocate for free market competition for high-speed Internet technologies.

Spent seven years at the American Chemistry Council (formerly the Chemical Manufacturers Association), serving as a manager in the State Relations department and supporting the Board of Directors and Chief Operating Committee of the Chlorine Chemistry Council. In addition to state lobbying, communications and grassroots advocacy, I was extensively involved with the chlorine industry’s multi-million dollar benefit’s campaign and the Association's community right-to-know Web site.
