As a part of my lifelong commitment to the Blackburn Institute, I became a Fellow upon my graduation from the University of Alabama.

The Blackburn Institute is a leadership development and civic engagement program specifically focused on improving the state of Alabama. Through its work with students, alumni (Fellows), and Advisory Board members, the institute develops a network of leaders who have a clear understanding of the state’s challenges. Selected students participate in a common new student curriculum of activities and events, after which they continue their involvement as returning students for their remaining time at the Capstone- Represent the values of the Blackburn Institute including facilitating a diversity of opinion, answering the call to action, networking through the generations, and instilling a lifetime commitment- Worked with a team of five on a civic engagement project proposal focused on connecting low-income Tuscaloosa residents who have had their wages garnished with free or reduced civil legal representation- Selected to serve on the Blackburn Institute Recruitment Team (2023)

The Honors College Assembly is a student-led leadership body for The University of Alabama's Honors College-Serve as Director for the Cultural Engagement and Diversity Committee- Plan events with committee members to promote diversity and cultural appreciation- Communicate and collaborate with other committee directors, executive board members, and studentorganizations- Planned events include: Hallowed Grounds Tour, 'Delete Dixie Initiative' Round-table discussion, Let's Taco 'Bout Religion

As a RA in the Department of Psychology “Knowledge In Development” Lab, I was responsible for watching video data and coding relevant information. As a leadership style coder, I was tasked with coding the preschool-age participants in various categories-leadership style, affect, type of play, etc. Additionally, I would collaborate with other Research Assistants to solve coding discrepancies. I also had the opportunity to conduct interviews with preschool-age participants once COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. The KID Lab’s “main area of interest is in children’s cognitive development, specifically in the development of their imagination, conceptual development and executive functions. We design and test socioemotional interventions to help children be best prepared for school”

One of two SGA Senators representing the School of Social Work. I was elected without backing from the secret political organization, the Machine. Authored 7 seven pieces of legislation, six of which passed.Notable achievements include passing legislation and meeting with UA administration about compensating Black Faculty and Staff Association Ambassadors for their work on the Hallowed Grounds Tour. The Hallowed Grounds Tour is an hour-long walking tour that overviews the legacy of slavery and racism on campus. The ambassadors are not currently paid for this work.
