Graduate teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia. Courses include BIOL205: Comparative Invertebrate Zoology (2017&2018) and BIOL204: Vertebrate Structure and Function (2018&2019). In both of these courses, I was expected to co-instruct a three-hour dissection lab to 40-50 students, twice a week during the months of September through April. I received runner-up for the Graduate Teaching Assistant Award in 2018, and have been nominated for the same award for 2019. Responsibilities and expectations for this position included:• Kept classroom focused on academic and intellectual discussions to further students' critical thinking skills as well as understanding of the materials presented.• Followed established course outline to prepare lessons and convey subject in a manner that enhances understanding of materials.• Adhered to university requirements for student assignments, testing and grading of work.• Provided students with advice and alternative ways of learning the material from personal experience taking these courses in my undergraduate degree.• Utilized email and in-person meetings to answer questions and mentor struggling students.

Co-author of “The molecular and morphological delimitation of the Astrotorhynchus bifidus species complex” 2018. Developed my own research project at UBC studying the relationship of marine protists belonging to Labyrinthulomycota and the Sea Star Wasting Disease. Thesis (in progress): "The Labyrinthulomycota of the North-west Pacific rocky intertidal: an environmental survey investigating the association between phylum Labyrinthulomycota and the sea star wasting disease of Pisaster ochraceus" 2019.
