During my rotation, I was able to gain a wide range of experience working with children of all ages and diagnoses. I gained clinical reasoning skills related to the components required to complete a full-encompassing evaluation, how to adapt to meet the unique needs of the child and parent(s) for assessments and meeting goals, and developing fun and motivational interventions that address the needs of the patient. I worked with a variety of patients with diagnoses ranging in complexities as well as environmental barriers related to socioeconomics and language. In addition, I created fine motor activities to be used with patients at the clinic and provided an in-service to the clinic about how they can be used as interventions and graded up or down to meet the client's needs.

During my rotation, I was able to gain hands-on experience working in an outpatient rehabilitation clinic with a wonderful OT who is also a certified hand therapist. I gained experience with manual techniques, PAM, splinting, and grading of therapeutic activities and exercises. I worked with patients with a variety of diagnoses including general orthopedic injuries (fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, lateral epicondylitis, etc.), post-surgical rehabilitation process (carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, CMC surgical interventions, ORIF, tendon rupture repairs), and post-CVA rehabilitation.
