I am passionate about holistic healthcare in the public health and private health systems and creating a positive impact on our environment for long-term human health. Embracing the qualities of courage, authenticity and compassion, my aim is to strive for excellence in healthcare through thought leadership, research, change management and entrepreneurialism.The first mother to be taken into an advanced surgical training program, I completed my FRACS (ORLHNS) in 2002 and then spent 3 years specialising in Head & Neck Cancer here and in France. Now a senior surgeon with over 15 years experience in head & neck cancer, paediatric ENT and general otorhinolaryngology, I have previously been a Supervisor of Surgical Training, Executive Director of ORLHNS Unit at Monash Health, Chair of the Surgical Sciences Examination for OLHNS, and a member of National Training Board for my specialty. I have a PhD in Head & Neck Cancer research and have produced a systems based theory for cancer with a framework that enables practical application and translation of cancer research.Having breast cancer at 38 gave me an opportunity to deeply reflect on the importance of gratitude, the concept of being present and the power of conscious behaviour. I am a mother of 2 teenagers, we enjoy discussing and challenging societal norms. I actively invest time in self care and 'thinking'. I love creativity and love to laugh. I believe in generating win-win situations. This can only be done when you are clear on your own personal values, have self-confidence, and respect yourself and others. You must be honest; others will trust you and be open. Patience is balanced with direction. My desire is to help others develop courage, find inspiration, discover their passions, learn the value of authenticity and the power of gratitude.
