At Daybreak in Dayton, OH, I worked as the Shelter Therapist within the agency. My job role consisted of reaching out to youth and young adults within Daybreak's Emergency Shelter to assess, diagnose, refer, and treat individuals who are struggling with mental health and housing crises. I collaborated with several clients within the shelter for ongoing therapy and mental health treatment as they travel through the process of finding stable housing and employment. Daybreak has various programs within the agency that are aimed at helping youth and young adults find the resources and support they need. Within these programs, there are several team members from different professions that allow for collaboration and holistic treatment for young adults seeking support.
Mental Health Therapist Intern
At Solutions Community Counseling and Recovery Center, I am working as an intern the Warren County Jail. At the jail, I am a part of the mental health team, where my responsibilities include completing crisis interventions, one on one therapy, and mental health screening. I provide brief mental health screening to incoming inmates to assess any mental health services needed. Risk assessments are done daily to prevent any suicide ideation and restoring individuals to their baseline functioning. A list of the responsibilities I am involved include; • Advocated on behalf of clients with corrections, medical, and legal departments• Maintained NCCHC standards by completing routine mental health and substance use history screens for all inmates within 12 days of booking date• Triaged referrals to psychiatric care to ensure appropriate and efficient medication management• Communicated with community staff to ensure continuity of care• Provided one on one mental health treatment to a small caseload of clients• Completed risk assessments to determine level of care including hospitalization
Community-Based Services Intern
At The Children's Home of Northern Kentucky, I interned in the Outpatient Champions Program. I worked with a grant given to the agency, called Pillars of Support. With this, we would organize middle school groups that worked in a preventative manor to help decrease truancy and behavioral issues and help raise grades, self-esteem, social skills, and life skills for students who were ask risk of needed higher levels of care.

Here, I was connected with alumni to talk to them about their experience while at the university. I would update them on things going on around campus and how they can stay involved and connected with the university.
