About Elizabeth Talatu Williams

Elizabeth is an international development practitioner with 10 years of experience designing and implementing social impact projects focused on health and youth development. She has an MSc. in International Development (with distinction) from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom funded by the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.Elizabeth's expertise has seen her manage several projects locally and internationally focused on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Health Technology, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Livelihood and Skills Development, and Climate Change.Elizabeth is currently the Founder and Executive Director of Sustainable Impact and Development Initiative, a youth-led non-profit dedicated to advancing the SRHR of young people in Nigeria. She also serves as the National Coordinator of the African Youth and Adolescent Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN) where she coordinates 90 youth-led organizations across 15 states in Nigeria.Previously, she worked with PharmAccess Foundation as the Program Manager of the Take Care Africa Project in Nigeria. She led the successful development and launch of the digital health platform “Kulawa” which recorded over 100000 user engagements within the first quarter in Nigeria.Elizabeth served as the past Youth Coordinator for the UNFPA Youth Participatory Platform, Lagos, Nigeria. She provided technical support on the development of the comprehensive sexuality education curriculum and manual for vocational training in Lagos State. She also supported UNFPA in the design and implementation of youth programming at the local and national levels for 5 years. Elizabeth’s work has secured her public speaking engagements at several high-level meetings and conferences advocating for young people’s health and development. They include the 2015 United Nations General Assembly – New York, 2020 International Conference on Population and Development - Kenya, 2022 International Conference on Family Planning - Thailand, and 2023 Women Deliver Conference - Rwanda.Her work has resulted in several awards, recognitions, and features locally and internationally. Elizabeth was named by Global Citizen as one of ‘6 Young Activists Working to Save the World’. She is a 2018 CYFI Fellow, 2019 SLDF Fellow, 2020 Women Deliver Young Leader, 2021 Chevening Scholar, and a finalist of the Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity by the Future Awards Africa.
