About Eliza Tebo

I’m a communications professional who currently serves as senior editor at UDC, the only public university in the nation’s capital and the second-oldest HBCU in the country. I’m also a journalist who likes to tease out the human side of things. Whether covering a rent strike, a broken unemployment benefit system, or a soon-to-close music venue, I build each story around the lives touched. Likewise, I care deeply about community. In my two music podcasts, I help strengthen our rich local music scene by amplifying the voices of both lesser-known artists. In 2024, I brought several of these musicians together for a live show at DC’s The Pocket to celebrate our local music scene, Common Chord Live. And I love meeting people. With not-so-secret aspirations to be the next Terry Gross, I enjoy few things more than sitting down for a good chat with someone I hardly know.My work has appeared in NPR Music, The Washington Post, DCist/WAMU, Washington City Paper, District Fray Magazine, ARLnow, Arlington Magazine and Grammy.com.Reach out if you’re looking for a writer for engaging profile pieces, lengthy dives into local issues, a standout speech, thorough copy-editing, or a humorous essay on the exorbitant cost of children’s birthday parties. (And if you want to be a guest on my coming-soon podcast about overcoming personal challenges, reach out for that too!)
