Laboratory Manger
CurrentAnalyzing of all pathology specimens, signing off and reporting of all results, chemistry, haematology and immuniology. Responsible for problem solving and quality control on analysers, as well as handling customer complaints and result queries. Writing of SOP’s, preparation for SANAS accreditation. Responsible for assessment of internal and external quality control results. Ensuring total quality management in the business unit. Responsible for meeting business unit objectives and goals. Training and evaluation of personnel. Involved in total quality management and preparation for SANAS audits for the area (eight labs in total). Chair for the monthly quality meetings for the Regional Managing Pathologist for the area. Assisting the Total Quality Management (TQM) department to ensure compliance to company quality management policies in the area. Assisting the Pathology Operational Improvement Management (POIM) department with new analyzer validations for Ampath Trust. Assist the area manager in all assigned tasks and operational needs for the area including training, interviews, disciplinary action, CCMA cases and SANAS management and technical audits. Currently responsible for the quality management for Sunninghill, Rosbank and Carstenhof labs. The Rosebank laboratory is a new lab that I opened up in July 2013, I was responsible for verification off all instruments, setting up a complete quality management system, including SOP’s, IQC and EQA programs, training of staff. The Sunninghill lab I’m appointed for is currently running their fourth year without any SANAS non-conformances found in an audit.
