Elize van Straten is the Lead Consultant at the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, Centre of Excellence at SITA, the South African State Information Technology Agency. Elize holds a B Com and Masters Degree in Business Leadership. She is an AgilePM® and Prince2® certified Practitioner, and is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). Elize has accumulated over 30 years of management experience, 21 of which were extensive experience in project, programme and portfolio management, covering a variety of industry sectors including Information Technology, Telecommunications, Education, Defense, Manufacturing and Construction Engineering. She also has 14 years military leadership experience on the strategic management and operational level, eventually culminating in assisting with delivering on the Defense Enterprise Information System Master plan. Her particular focus was in ensuring strategic fit by means of intensive portfolio management. During the past 10 years her focus has been the establishment and management of enterprise-wide programme and portfolio management offices and standards development and maturity building. Elize is passionate about Portfolio-, Programme- and Project management and strives to use these as vehicles to enable SITA to deliver on it’s strategy; and to optimize SITA’s (and thus the South African Government’s) ICT service delivery. She strives to instill a project management culture of ethical business practice, professional conduct and accountability. She is currently overseeing the programme governance of the SA Connect Broadband Programme. Delivering on the vision of the SA Government's to bridge the digital divide, by creating an inclusive information society. She recently programme managed the highly acclaimed GovTech Conference. An international Technology EXPO and conference.
