About Jesse Elkins, Mph

We are all so much more than we are on paper/online. I have a Master of Public Health in Physical Activity and Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have extensive leadership experience in community health and with designing and conducting mixed-methods research, specifically in areas focused on social determinants of health, HIV prevention and care, and communities within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. With global experience (Sierra Leone, Australia, Greece, Spain), I am eager for collaborative and international opportunities within public health, research, HIV, physical activity, and nutrition.I am also the founder of Full Sun Fitness, a US-based personal training, research, and consulting network actively developing and deepening Queer and ally exercise and community-building experiences, programs, and retreats. My background as a competitive swimmer inspired years of exploration to deepen my mind+body connection. I studied ballet and modern dance, taught dance to people living with disabilities at Sydney Dance Company, and have practiced (hot) yoga for 11+ years. I am certified in hot sculpt yoga, nutrition coaching, personal training, and corrective exercise. My goal is to bring breath, awareness, and self-compassion to exercise and to help people illuminate and sustain their individual wellness. I am committed to deconstructing harmful fitness trends and believe that we should come as we are, not how society says we should be”.
