    Developing a fully autonomous Chevrolet Bolt by 2020 may seem like a tall task for a group of university students, but we are no ordinary students. Standing strong at about 160 members, our team of University of Waterloo students is taking on the SAE AutoDrive Challenge, a North American Collegiate competition at the forefront of advanced autonomous technology.As a founder and co-captain of WATonomous, I have the amazing opportunity to experience the full spectrum of what it takes to build a self-driving car. From sensor fusion to perception to actuation, as well as sensor selection and mounting to business operations, I have had my hands in it all. I live and breathe this project, and I am very excited to have presented our first milestones at the Year 1 competition this past April 2018, where we competed in challenges such as stopping at stop signs, following lanes, and avoiding non-moving obstacles.
