Thanks to this internationally-competitive award provided by Fulbright Canada and Mitacs, I will spend 12 weeks during the summer of 2024 co-authoring a research paper on the native Icelanders of Manitoba with Dr. Andrew McGillivray at the University of Winnipeg in Canada.

As a resident advisor for the Governor's Scholars Program at Morehead State University, I supervised the 22 scholars who lived in my hall and another group of 18 scholars. I held mandatory nightly meetings where I checked in with scholars and informed them of important updates. I also dealt with interpersonal conflicts, ensured scholars were behaving appropriately during events in which public figures (like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear) spoke, answered questions, comforted homesick scholars, collaborated with other RAs to ensure all areas of campus were appropriately supervised, disciplined scholars, and assisted the office staff with administrative tasks. I also supervised scholars while they explored Morehead, purchased groceries, and attended church services; and I worked within a committee of other RAs to write and direct weekly skits for the scholars.
