It is my job as a localization editor to help bridge the cultural and linguistic divide for English-speaking manga audiences by refining complex L10N elements often overlooked by novice translators. These elements include character quirks, subjects, titles, humor, personality, voice, and register. I collaborate closely with translators, typesetters, and PMs utilizing Phrase TMS during the copy editing and proofreading processes to manage the English translation of 1-2 manga volumes per month.

DRUNK BULLET, Shueisha Manga+Being a Japanese to English entertainment translator requires versatility in CAT tools and TMS, such as MemoQ, SDL Trados, and Phrase TMS, to translate + edit multiple manga chapters per month. It also involves constantly perfecting localization skills to translate diverse manga genres, including fantasy, romance, action and adventure, and ensuring cultural accuracy, stylistic fidelity, and target audience satisfaction.

JapanLab creates entirely original games with Japanese themes and remasters classic Japanese games into modern, approachable versions. Our goal was to make Japanese history accessible and engaging to a broad audience. As the Co-lead of the project I not only designed the website for our online publication of "Ready, Set, Yokohama!", but in addition coordinated my amazing team of four to ensure effective communication was utilized, deadlines were met, and meetings times were maximized. As the Lead Narrative Designer I localized the complex history and debate surrounding Japanese modernization into a digestible, yet captivating game narrative.

While studying full-time, I worked directly over forty students per semester and guided each individual to have a better understanding of Japanese by working through their mistakes. I provided daily feedback on homework and quizzes, and gave in-depth annotations on midterm and final exams. I worked particularly with beginner to beginner-intermediate level Japanese language students.
