As a species we’re at an inflection point. My focus is on how we can create a long, flourishing future for all inhabitants of earth. I sit at the intersection of culture, narrative and systems change. I’m a founder, systems change specialist, anthropologist, writer, podcaster, teacher, activist, and (as of very recently) a mother. My work focuses on harnessing the power of culture - I do this in meta and micro ways. I’m a founder of the Long Time Project, which seeks to cultivate a culture of stewardship across society. During the pandemic, I set up the Reset Narratives Community in partnership with the Environment Funders Network, which brings together over 80 organisations to regularly share polling, insight and narrative strategy with each other, to lead to more effective storytelling across environment and social justice movements. I’m also the founder of the Comms Lab, which we set up a decade ago to create change within the advertising industry, and has gone on to incubate a range of organisations and initiatives like The Purpose Disruptors and Create&Strike. In addition to all the long-term work, sometime I get very short-term, especially when it comes to elections! I’m the co-founder of multiple voter turnout campaigns: SHEvotes, Time to Vote, and Its Our Time. Trained as an anthropologist, I have pioneered a systems approach to change, co-founding systems change network, The Point People, working with the University of Oxford on systemschangers.com back in 2012, writing a Building A Language of Systems Change, co-designing the Systems Changers programme with the Lankelly Chase Foundation. I continue to advise funders. Before all this, I spent the first part of my career working in international development, the creative industries, public policy in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Latin America & Kosovo. And before all that I worked in call centres, bars, restaurants & ice-cream shops…I’m fascinated by the intersection between fiction and futures and recently wrote Recode, a short drama, for the Guardian. My writing for stage and screen is represented by The Agency. I have been published in The Guardian, The Financial Times, ID, Wired, Monocle, Fast Company & Creative Review.I am incorrigibly plural and support others to be their many selves... see me on my TEDx soapbox. Holding all these different parts together has required a strong inner practice, I started practising yoga and meditation at 18, and now teach yoga and Qi Gong. I’m fascinated by the messy intersection between inner and outer change.

Co-FounderThe Comms Lab 2013 - Jan 2022London, United KingdomThe mission of the Comms Lab is to maximise the positive contribution of the advertising industry to the world. We create and support effective interventions that change the practices, thinking, conversations and output of the advertising industry so that it leads us towards a more sustainable and equitable future. Our strategic process is very much influenced by design thinking -- we test and prototype solutions, working iteratively.
