About Ella Sharp
I am a compassionate, creative and conscientious final year student. I am currently on course to graduate with a First Class Honours in Sociology and Psychology. As part of my degree, I completed a placement year with a charity called Aurora New Dawn. I worked as a support worker in the ISVA and stalking advocacy team. In this role I provided confidential 1-to-1 wellbeing and legal advice to clients, collaboratively devised fundraising/awareness initiatives, and empowered clients to regain control of their lives. I loved this frontline work because I have a great and keen passion to better the lives of people facing systematic oppression, with social justice. However, I found mine and my colleagues support was restricted by research, policy and funding. This is what inspires me to work within this area because I can make a greater impact higher up in the system. With an excitement to work in the charity sector, I am currently seeking a graduate role to make my devotion to helping others, a career.

Isva And Stalking Support Worker (Placement Student)
As part of my degree, I took a placement year with Aurora New Dawn and joined the Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) team and Stalking Advocacy team. In this role I:• Provided 1-to-1 wellbeing and legal advice to victims and survivors.• Supported clients while encouraging empowerment and motivating them begin regaining control of their lives • Guided clients through the criminal justice system, specifically the first stages of police investigations • Identified adult safeguarding concerns and made appropriate referrals • Collaboratively worked alongside police officers, solicitors, social workers and mental health workers to liaise information with advocates on behalf of clients • Entered and managed personal sensitive data received from referrals• Maintained accurate confidential case management records using the Aurora New Dawn database and spreadsheets• Maintained spreadsheets with client demographics to represent our work and client statistics • Supported colleagues and partner agencies to ensure the best level of advocacy is being delivered using clear communication and sticking to deadlines • Scheduled calls and managed mine and my colleagues diaries and workload • Received training on: o Risk assessment o Adult safeguarding o Lone working o Data protection o Coercive control o Revenge porn o Psychological first aid o Stalking o Non-molestation orders o Homicide timeline o Dogs domestic abuse
